This small silk scarf is hand painted by Louise using the art of batik an ancient craft using hot wax to draw on fabric this design is inspired by the stone carvings found at Newgrange. Louise has painted a series of spirals along one end of the scarf then painted shades of green pouring the dye and leaving it to settle in certain areas, the lovely thing about batik is fine cracks appear in the wax allowing the dye to seeps in. When the wax is removed the fine cracks and lines appear throughout the spiral drawing.
The wax is removed is removed between sheets of newspaper and the scarf is then washed and ironed from damp to leave a silky smooth finish.
The colour of this scarf is inspired by the delicate coloures of the spring primrose soft yellow, apple green, with a flash of sky blue and pale lemon
