This scarf has a Celitc design that was inspired by the stone carvings found at Newgrange on of the oldest megalithic sights in the world.
The colours are a blends of different shades of green with splashes of turquoise, along the hem and throughout

The Celtic design is done in the art of batik this is when you use hot wax to create shapes and images on fabric. The wax acts as a resist and blocks dyes going into certain areas the wax is removed at the end and washed to leave a silky smooth and soft finish.

The great thing about using wax to draw and paint with is you get all these fine lines and translusent textures throughout the wax painting.
The wax is removed by ironing the fabric between sheets of newspaper or newsprint I like to use old newspapers to get a second use out of them.
The scarf is then washed and Ironed from wet to leave a beautiful silky smooth finish.
